This course will introduce students to the basics of experimental design and hypothesis testing in Linguistics. We will discuss influential experimental methodologies that have been used with language, and the types of conclusions that can be drawn from them. We will also have a detailed look at primary psycholinguistics research literature and connections to theoretical linguistics. Some attention will be paid to work using web-based platforms for experimental linguistics research.
